My name is Mr. Ortiz. I am a veteran teacher with over 25 years of teaching experience. Most of my career has been here in the Grand Ledge school district with my early assignment in the alternative high school program. It was a wonderful luxury to have such a small program that allowed me to get to know students as human beings rather than faces in my class or in the hall. Having been transferred to the big high school, I try to continue that effort of getting to know my students on a personal level and building positive relationships. As part of that effort I am happy to host a variety of after school, student run clubs.

Outside of class I go to workshops, conferences, in-service training, and college classes. I also read professional teaching journals, so you know I am up to date in my professional knowledge and I am always striving to improve my teaching skills. The most important things to understand me are that I love to teach, and I am proud to be a teacher.
